JF PARNELL'S DAILY DIGITAL OPINION

SEDONA
Dragonfly
Label: Vortex Music Group
Description: Awesome hybrid modern rock with fantastic multimedia bonuses
PICK OF THE DAY! (September 1999)

Sedona's Dragonfly has an awesome, masterfully-crafted sound, blending the dark, potent edge and tough guitar textures of modern rock with the ear- friendly hooks, hard-driving instrumentation, and production polish of classic melodic hard rock. The result is a unique, creative, and massively appealing album, with impressive tracks like the muscular rock and ingenious time signatures of "Filling Up The Holes," the energized, radio-ready "Highest Star In Heaven," the murky modern heaviness of "Wrong," the sweet ballad "All This Love," and the wondrous, intense, expansive atmosphere of "Nowhere But Down." Fans of a wide spectrum of music --from melodic rock masters like Pretty Maids and Giant to modern rock greats like Toad The Wet Sprocket, Brother Cane, and even Pearl Jam (circa Ten)-- will find something to love in Dragonfly, the best of all worlds in melodic hard rock. The multimedia content on Dragonfly (for Mac or PC) is also absolutely dazzling, with excellent graphics, a game, and two outstanding videos, including footage of tunes from Sedona's debut EP, Drift. Song samples and more information await at Sedona World, Sedona's excellent website. Do not miss this album.
