6 Months In Advance

  • Establish a planning team
  • Discuss Parents on Campus at PTA meetings
  • Attend faculty and student government meetings
  • Meet with administration, discuss unions, issues, etc.

2 to 4 Months In Advance

  • Begin planning the pilot program
  • Determine length of pilot program
  • Recruit volunteer parents for pilot program
  • Meet with administration, faculty and students
  • Begin fundraising and promotion

1 to 2 Months In Advance

  • Begin pilot program
  • Maintain a daily log of pilot program
  • Continue recruitment of parent volunteers
  • Create promotional material
  • Hold Parents on Campus meetings frequently
  • Stay in close contact with administration

1 Month In Advance

  • Continue pilot program and monitor daily log
  • Begin or continue scheduling parent volunteers for the permanent Parents on Campus program
  • Continue to locate and recruit service organizations

Start Date

  • Review strengths and weaknesses of pilot program
  • Form the permanent Parents on Campus committee
  • Develop means of identifying volunteers (e.g., hats, badges, clothing and/or name tags)
  • Notify faculty and students about start of Parents on Campus

Program Maintenance

  • Continuous recruitment and promotion
  • Hold regular Parents on Campus meetings
  • Maintain regular contact with administration
  • Continue fundraising events
